GALÁPAGOS ISLANDS

TOURISM




The Galapagos Archipelago is one of the largest scientific and tourist attractions of Ecuador; without a doubt, it is the most known and famous attraction in the country
They are located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean about 1,200 kilometers west of the coast of Ecuador; it has 13 large islands and about 60 islets and rocks. Miso also has large volcanoes
The Galapagos Islands make up an archipelago that is part of Ecuador. The islands were made famous by Charles Darwin's studies there that led to his theory of evolution by natural selection. The archipelago's land area was declared a national park. The Galapagos Islands are home to a number of animal species, including the Galapagos tortoise, sea lions, the Blue-footed Booby, the Marine iguana, the Galapagos Penguin and Darwin's finches.
All islands of this archipelago are wonderful and mysterious. Visit the only living museum of evolutionary changes in the world.
Among the main attractions there are: 
 
Isabella Island: the largest island, where there is the largest colony of turtles Galapagos archipelago, and also has penguin colonies and flamingos.
Santa Cruz Island: the headquarters of the Galapagos National Park and the Charles Darwin biological station is located. Here you can see mangroves, coral beaches of the forest Scalesia. There are the Charles Darwin Research Station. It was founded in 1959 under the auspices of UNESCO and the World Conservation Union. The Charles Darwin Foundation is dedicated to the conservation of Galapagos ecosystems.
Baltra Island: a small island formed by underwater lava, this was the former army pistq landing of the United States after the Second World War.
Española Island: a little to island, there are many species of birds, sea lions and reefs.



San Cristobal Island: Puerto Baquerizo is the capital, operates one of the airports, and its main attractions we have the island of wolves, big harbor, lagoon rushes and closed scissors
In the Galapagos Islands several cruises and eco-tourism are developed in order to protect all species living on the islands.

Gastronomy: In its cuisine is a wide range of dishes prepared with seafood.
